Kelly

Hello friends & fellow riders!  We’ve finally made it through those April showers & now with the May flowers everywhere, so are the bikes!  I can’t believe the numbers of motorcycles on the road now…wow – the rider courses & DMV must have been very busy these past few months.  For those of us who have been riding for a while, we should be especially watchful of those who are just getting their “road legs” & hittin’ the streets with the rest of us.  We all can sort of get a clue by riding behind someone, if they are new to the road so it doesn’t hurt to ride along with them a little bit if you’re going the same direction.  By doing this, believe it or not, it does give them a sense of comfort & a feeling of being welcomed into our riding community.  It doesn’t matter whether you ride a Sport Bike, Harley, Trike or Custom “whatever”, we are all part of a special community of adventurers who share an “out of the box” love for the road & should be looking out for each other all the time.  If you’ve just recently gotten your license & are new to riding, we’d like to welcome you to the open road where you’re sure to meet a lot of really good people who ride.  Don’t hesitate to head out to any of the bike events in our calendar or ones that you may hear about - you’re sure to have a great time & make some new friends too.  The stereotyping that some people have that ALL bikers are “bad-ass” troublemakers has dwindled down quite a bit over these past couple of years.  Even though there’ll always be some of those bad-asses around somewhere, if you’re wearing leathers, jeans & boots, chances are, most places will welcome you through their doors - a lot of bars & restaurants claim that it’s usually bikers that leave the best tips!

The warmer temps are starting to set in now & summer is right around the corner - can’t believe it starts next month!  We’d like to remind you to be sure & check your tires, oil, gas, tighten nuts & bolts etc…on your bikes before you hit the road.  Most “roadside warriors” (bikes broken down on the side of the road) are usually due to negligence of one or more from that checklist. It only takes a few minutes to do & you’ll enjoy your ride so much more.

Many of you will be venturing to Myrtle Beach for the Spring Rally (9th – 18th) & also towards DC on Memorial Day weekend (23rd – 25th) to attend Rolling Thunder XXI, where you’ll be amongst thousands of bikes in either place.  We’d like to wish you all a real good time while you’re there, but most importantly, a safe & enjoyable journey to & from.    Until next month, may you have happiness & peace in your lives, love in your hearts & wonderful warm wind on your faces.  Don’t waste even a moment – Make everyday count!
